University of Minnesota to host six teams of the state's best 9th-12th graders

This week some of the state's best high school hockey players will hit the ice as part of the CCM High Performance Model Camp, held at 3M Arena at Mariucci and Ridder Arena on the University of Minnesota campus.

The CCM Minnesota Hockey High Performance programs are designed to identify and develop the best players ages 14-18 in Minnesota and to provide the top players from each district or section a chance to play with and against the best players in their area and the state.

The Model Camp consists of six teams of the state's best 9th-12th graders, who will train and compete against each other over a five-day period from Monday, July 23 through Friday, July 27.

For hockey fans, this is a great venue to see the state's top teenage talent. For the players, it is a chance to gauge their ability against their peers while receiving top-notch on and off-ice instruction from some of the top coaches the state has to offer. The coaches will lead the players through five days of on- and off-ice training sessions that focus on a variety of skills with an emphasis on long-term athlete development and preparation for the next level of hockey.

This fall, the CCM High Performance Tier I Leagues will commence. The league offer players with a fall development league, featuring an emphasis on local training and a minimum of 15 games against the top competition in Minnesota and across the country. Teams also have the opportunity to compete for a chance to represent Minnesota at USA Hockey's Tier I National Championships. HP Tier I Leagues tryouts begin in August.
