The Minnesota Wild knows when it has talent in its own backyard, and has not been shy about drafting native sons. In fact, the home team has selected 12 State of Hockey natives since the 2000 National Hockey League Entry Draft.

The Wild selected A.J. Thelen No. 12 overall in the 2004 draft, the highest the Wild have ever drafted a Minnesotan.
Most recently, Jack Sadek, member of the 2015 state champion Lakeville North team and current Golden Gopher, was drafted by the Wild in the seventh round last year.
