OSSEO/MAPLE GROVE COMPLETES SQUIRTACULAR SWEEP
The Osseo/Maple Grove Black Squirt B and OMGHA Squirt A teams each won their respective divisions at this year’s Youth Hockey Hub Squirtacular.
The Squirt B Leafbirds downed Chaska/Chanhassen Purple 3-1 to win their title, led by Tournament Most Valuable Player Joe Lewis’ goal and assist. Blake Steenerson and Riley Boot also scored for the Leafbirds.
The Squirt A championship saw OMGHA edge Woodbury 3-2, with the winning goal scored on a gorgeous bank-pass-to-self-to-wraparound by tourney MVP Landon Gunderson of OMGHA. Jay Ellingson and Ethan Hanson added goals in the win for OMGHA.
MAHTOMEDI PEEWEE AA DOWNS CENTENNIAL IN CLASSIC CHILL TOURNAMENT
The Zephyrs posted three consecutive shutouts and squeaked past Centennial 3-2 in the finals to claim Chill Classic championship.
The Zephyrs outscored their first three opponents 12-0, shutting out Forest Lake, Burnsville and St. Michaels-Albertville before the final win over the Cougars.
EDEN PRAIRIE 10UA WINS SECOND CONSECUTIVE TOURNAMENT
After winning the Duluth Icebreaker in heart-pounding fashion, the Eden Prairie 10UA team took the St. Paul Capitals Girls’ Heartbreaker tourney with no such resistance, shutting out Stillwater 5-0 in the championship game.
It was the second shutout for the Eagles, who blanked Eastview 4-0 in the quarterfinals before defeating Blaine 5-2 in the semifinals.
