Gentry Academy (27-2-0) won its first state title 3-1 over Andover (27-4-0) on Saturday night. 

Senior forward Alexa Hanrahan tallied her 15th, 16th, and 17th goals of the season for a crucial hat trick in the Stars win. Her second goal, the game winner, came 8:06 into the second period.

“I saw the player in front of me and used her as a screen,” Hanrahan said.  

Gentry senior goaltender Zoe Laming made 19 saves on 20 shots to cement her All-Tournament Team spot. 

“[Laming] is the mom of the team,” Hanrahan said. “She’s our mature leader.”

Andover sophomore forward Hannah Christenson scored the lone goal for the Huskies with two minutes remaining in the first period. 

“Our whole team can attest that we didn’t play our best hockey [this week],” Andover head coach Melissa Volk said. “Gentry were super calm and composed with the puck.”

Gentry handed Andover two of its four losses this season, having also defeated the Huskies 4-3 on November 19th. 

“We thought we’d have to score four goals to win [again] and we did,” Gentry head coach Billy Hengen said.
