We expect to use that new culture this year and compete in both the conference and section. We will build on our speed and work ethic and use both of those to show that we can compete. The keys to success this season will be outworking our opponents and using our mental toughness to overcome adversity. If we can focus on a "team first" mentality and do the little things right, we will turn some heads this season. We only graduated 3 players from last season and we only have 1 senior this year. The majority of our players are 10th and 11th graders!”

They will help each other compete every day in practice  Our leading scorers from last year return in Delaney Johnson and Makenzie Baker. However, we will need some players to step up from last year to add some scoring and/or a couple of our newcomers  will need to add some goals. We have a lot of the same type of forwards from 9-12, so we will need them to separate themselves to make the top three lines. Our defense is led by three returners from last year, Hannah Lysne, Abby Petersen and Emily Peterson and they will be asked to help bring along the new D stepping in. We are really looking forward to our second year as CPCR.”

Top newcomers: Forward Nora Peterson, goalie Grace Koshney
The coach says: “We’ve had poor numbers the past couple of years which looks to be turning around.  Even though we will still be young without a senior that will see significant varsity playing time, we do have experience as we’ll have some sophomores who we will rely on who’ve already had 3 years of varsity experience.  And many freshmen who got thrown into the fire last year as eighth graders.  Our only graduation was our goalie who’d played big minutes for us in her career, so we will need to develop a goaltender quickly.  We are beginning our 3rd year as a co-op with Mayville N.D. and are excited to have 4 girls from Mayville who we will rely on heavily this season.  We’ve also lost a top line Junior forward Kylee Meier 4-5-9 who will miss the season after suffering a knee injury during the soccer season.”

We are really excited about the upside of this group. We anticipate some growing and learning early in the season, but think this group has the talent to be a special group. We have a good mix of talent and skill, and this may be one of our better skating group of defenders. We have two goalies who are competing to lead the team in net. The coach says: “The MWHS/W-M/SW Christian White Hawks look to be much improved this season. Many of our players a year ago were in their first year of high school hockey. In addition, we’ve added three of the top eighthgrade players in the state from the U12 A ranks.  All three are expected to make an impact. We will be able to skate three solid lines that should be able to score, which was our biggest weakness a year ago.  Our team speed is very good and we should be able to forecheck and put a lot of pressure on teams. Defensively, we’re young but solid. Sophomores Brooke Pioske and Taylor Leonard are shut-down defensemen who can also help move the puck up ice. We expect more scoring from our D than last season. Senior goalie Taylor Smith is poised for a great senior season after starting for the first time last season. We should be strong in our own end of the ice. While still young (only six upperclassmen) on the Varsity, we feel we’re building a strong team. Thirteen of these players were either in the Premier Prep League or Elite Leagues this fall preparing for the season. If we can put the puck in the net on a consistent basis and stay healthy, it will be a very successful season with a real chance to make a run at Section time.”

The coach says: “We return a strong nucleus from our team last year. We have great senior leadership who will support the development of our younger players. Hard working players who are comitted to each other and will hold each other accountable. We play in a conference that has strong competition and a lot of parity. In addition, we have what I feel is the most challenging non-conference schedule we have ever had in my entire tenure. We look forward to the challenges we will encounter for all of our games and look to get better in the process.”
