From Winny Brodt and Krissy Wendell to Gigi Marvin and last year's honoree Taylor Williamson, the list of outstanding girls' high school players who have been named Minnesota's Ms. Hockey is a long and impressive one.
That select club of Ms. Hockey Award recipients will soon grow, as yesterday Let's Play Hockey announced the 10 semi-finalists for the 2016 award, given annually to the state's best senior girls' high school hockey player.

All 10 players named as semi-finalists are committed to a Division I school for next season, including seven in the WCHA. The semi-finalists have scored an average of 20 goals and 19 assists this season for their respective teams. All 10 players have been bound to the textbooks for the past several years, as they check in with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.58.
The five finalists for the Ms. Hockey Award will be named in the Feb. 11 edition of Let’s Play Hockey with the winner announced at the Ms. Hockey Awards Banquet on Sunday, Feb. 21, at 9 a.m., at the St. Paul RiverCentre.
In addition to on-ice talent, criteria for the Ms. Hockey Award include academics, community/extracurricular activities, citizenship and coachability.

Also announced yesterday were the 10 semi-finalists for the 2016 Let’s Play Hockey Senior Goalie of the Year Award, presented to the top senior girls’ high school hockey goaltender in Minnesota.
Semi-finalists include: Lauren Bench (Burnsville); Jenna Brenneman (Breck); Chloe Crosby (Lakeville South); Tatyana Delaittre (Minnetonka); Catherine Johnson (St. Paul United); Mari Johnson (Hill-Murray); Clare Minnerath (Sartell/Sauk Rapids); Kaylee Remington (Forest Lake); Molly Scarborough (Anoka) and Sydney Scobee (Breck).
