ANDOVER SQUIRT A CLAIMS EDEN PRAIRIE’S “PRAIRIE SHOOTOUT” TITLE

Andover’s Squirt A team won the Prairie Shootout in style, edging host Eden Prairie 7-6 in a thrilling overtime victory. The Huskies then thumped Woodbury 5-0 to take the championship. In Pool Play, the Huskies flashed some serious offensive firepower, downing Wayzata, Apple Valley and Bloomington Kennedy by a combined score of 28-2.

WAYZATA BLUE TAKES OVER TOP SPOT ON 14UA RANKINGS

Wayzata Blue climbed to the No. 1 slot in the Youth Hockey Hub NOW Rankings, thanks in part to a clutch 3-1 win over No. 5 North Wright County 3-1. At 15-1-0, the Trojans have not lost since a Nov. 28 heartbreaker 3-2 to Edina Green.

PARK OF COTTAGE GROVE BANTAM A DEFEATS THREE RANKED TEAMS IN DULUTH LAKE SUPERIOR CLASSIC

The Wolfpack of Park of Cottage Grove played some tough competition in the Lake Superior Classic tourney, and came away with three wins over teams ranked in the state’s top five.

Pool Play consisted of a 4-2 win over No. 4 Prior Lake, another 4-2 win over Mound-Westonka, and a 7-1 victory over Superior (Wis.).

The Wolfpack then took down No. 2 Armstrong/Cooper 3-2 in a shootout before dominating No. 5 Lakeville North 5-1 to cement the tournament title.
