The Big Pumpkin Tournament hosted 24 teams in Moorhead, Oct. 30 through Nov. 1. With all 10 of the YHH's Preseason Top 10 AA teams in Minnesota, The Pumpkin is considered the most competitive Peewee tournament to start the season. On the first day of the event, the lower-seeded 16 teams faced off for the right to meet the top eight teams in the state in the "Sweet 16."

In the first round, Jefferson knocked off host Moorhead in an exciting battle decided in overtime. Brady Burton stuffed home the game-winner to send the Jaguars to the final 16.

In the round of 16, Lakeville South hung on to beat East Grand Forks, 3-1, in a thrilling back-and-forth game. Jefferson came out flying again in its second game, but dropped a tight decision to No. 4 seed St. Cloud in overtime. St. Cloud scored the winning goal with only 19 seconds remaining in the extra session. In the Quarterfinals, top seeds Osseo Maple Grove, Edina, Eden Prairie and Apple Valley all advanced. Apple Valley snuck past St. Cloud 6-4 in the most competitive game of the morning.

Eventual champion Edina beat crosstown rival Eden Prairie 4-2 in the Semifinals and Osseo Maple Grove outlasted Apple Valley to set up the No. 1 versus No. 2 title matchup. Edina, powered by a strong forecheck and great penalty killing (7-for-7 on the penalty kill) outplayed the top seed to win 4-1 and clinch its second Pumpkin title in three years. Edina’s Marc Lund was named tournament MVP by Youth Hockey Hub, scoring eight goals in four games, including two hat tricks.
