Note: The following summary was written prior to the games of November 6-7.

The season may be young, but Minnesota Duluth and St. Cloud State have started hotter than the rest of the Minnesota Division One field. The Bulldogs have played stingy defense against a tough schedule. The Huskies have had solid goaltending, but the schedule will get more difficult as the season continues.

1. Minnesota Duluth (3-2-2 as of Nov. 2nd)

The Bulldogs are coming off a 1-1 split with USA Today-ranked No. 5 University of Massachusetts-Lowell, and are averaging nearly 36 shots per game. The No. 7-ranked Bulldogs have also allowed opponents just two goals in the first period.

2. St. Cloud State (6-2-0)

The only losses the Huskies have suffered this season have come at the hands of No. 4 Quinnipiac, and the schedule only gets tougher from here for the Huskies. Goaltender Charlie Lindgren (5-2-0) has posted a 1.43 goals-against-average, a .947 save percentage and an impressive four shutouts.

3. Minnesota State (4-4-0)

Four losses have been followed by four wins for the Mavericks, who could be gearing up for a strong stretch of games.

4. Minnesota (2-3-0)

The Gophers have converted just twice in 22 power plays, a statistic that underscores their struggles to score, notching just nine goals in five games.

5. Bemidji State (1-4-2)

Despite the pedestrian record, the Beavers have recorded a tie with No. 1 ranked North Dakota and a win over No. 7 Minnesota-Duluth. 

The high-scoring Golden Gophers are the class of the Division One Minnesota women’s teams, but outstanding goaltending from Bemidji State’s Brittni Mowat could move the Beavers into the number one slot as the season progresses.

1. Minnesota (9-1-0 as of Nov. 2)

The Gophers, ranked No. 3 in the U.S. College Hockey Online poll, suffered their first loss to No. 5 North Dakota on Oct. 30. Eight players have registered double-digit points for the Gophers, led by Hannah Brandt’s nine goals and 21 points.

2. Bemidji State (8-2-2)

The No. 6-ranked Beavers have gotten excellent goaltending from Brittni Mowat (8-2-1), who’s posted a 1.07 goals-against-average and a .960 save percentage.

3. Minnesota Duluth (4-6-0)

Ashleigh Brykalvik has been the offensive bright spot for the Bulldogs, dishing out seven assists and leading the team with 10 points.

4. St. Cloud State (2-7-1)

A 5-4 upset win over No. 5-ranked North Dakota on Oct. 24 has been the highlight so far for the Huskies.

5. Minnesota State (2-9-1)

It's been a rough start to the season for the Mavericks. After opening with a 2-1-1 mark through four games, they've dropped eight straight contests, being outscored 36-8 over that span.

It’s far too early to get a decent read on the Division Three Men’s landscape, but usual suspect St. Thomas seems primed to be in the hunt for the top spot again this season. St. Scholastica has also shown flashes of brilliance, and could be a contender throughout the season.

1. St. Thomas (1-0-1 as of Nov. 2)

A lineup that won 21 regular season games last year returns nine seniors and eight juniors.

2. St. Scholastica (1-0-1)

The marquee game of the season so far has been a 3-3 tie with Wisconsin-River Falls, ranked No. 9 by d3hockey.com on Oct. 30.

3. Hamline (1-0-1)

Brandon Zurn has scored five goals and seven points in just two games for the Pipers, including a four-goal performance in a 8-5 win over St. Mary’s University on Nov. 1.

4. St. Olaf (1-0-1)

Drew Otto has been the offensive spark thus far for the Oles, scoring four goals and six points in the first two games of the season.

5. Augsburg (1-1-0)

The Auggies got four of their five goals from Nate Flynn in a 5-0 win on Nov. 1 over St. John’s University.

St. Thomas scored an early-season win over a ranked opponent, and Gustavus Adolphus’ young lineup seems to be finding its groove and settling in at the collegiate level thus far.

1. St. Thomas (1-0-0 as of Nov. 2)

A 2-1 win over No. 6-ranked Wisconsin-River Falls starts the season off on the right foot for the Tommies, thanks in large part to the 26-save performance of goaltender Mackenzie Torpy.

2. Gustavus Adolphus (0-0-1)

A whopping 17 underclassmen dot the roster for the Gusties. Freshman defender Erin Moes recorded two assists in the season-opening 2-2 tie with No. 13-ranked Wisconsin-Superior.

3. Augsburg (1-1-0)

The relatively young Auggies pulled out a 2-1 overtime win over Wisconsin-Eau Claire on Oct. 31, with freshman Valerie Whichello netting the game-winner.

4. St. Mary’s University (1-1-0)

A split on the season’s first weekend with No. 13 Wisconsin-Superior bodes well for the Cardinals early in the season. Jane Hannula scored two goals for the Cardinals in the season-opening 5-2 win.

5. St. Catherine University (0-1-1)

No wins yet, but the experienced St. Catherine squad has tied with No. 10-ranked Lake Forest.
