1. Minnetonka

The Class 2A runner-up last season returns two of its leading scorers in Presley Norby and Annelise Rice. Senior goaltender Tatyana Delaittre is also back after posting an amazing nine shutouts last season.

2. Maple Grove

Maple Grove returns five players who scored 20 or more points from last season’s 24-2-1 team. Sophomore goaltender CoCo Francis and her 12-0-0 record and 1.14 goals-against-average are also back for the young and talented Crimson.

3. Hill-Murray

Two-time defending Class 2A champion Hill-Murray lost just five players from last season’s roster. While goaltender and 22-game winner Leah Patrick has graduated, Mari Johnson should fill in admirably after earning three wins (two shutouts) last year.

4. Edina

Losing 2015 Ms. Hockey Taylor Williamson hurts, but the Hornets bring back a pair of productive forwards in Emily Oden and Lolita Fidler. Goaltender Anna Goldstein takes over for Shannon Peterson in the nets after winning four of five postseason games, including the third place game in the 2015 State Tournament.

5. Wayzata

The Trojans bring back three of last season’s top four scorers, plus their starting goaltender from last year’s team that lost 3-2 in overtime to eventual Class 2A runner-up Minnetonka in the Section 6 finals.

1. Blake

Perennial power Blake won Class 1A state titles in 2013 and 2014, but came up just short of a three-peat last season. The Bears return leading scorer and Princeton commit Carly Bullock and her 85 points to pace the offense.

2. Breck

Breck lost just three players from last season’s team that ended the year with a 3-2 overtime loss to eventual Class 1A runner-up Blake in the Class 1A, Section 5 title game. Thirty-four goal scorer and Minnesota commit Grace Zumwinkle is back for the Mustangs.

3. St. Paul United

The co-op of St. Paul Academy and Visitation returns the high-scoring duo of Josie Phelps and Samantha Burke, who combined to score 116 points last season. Starting goaltender Catherine Johnson also returns for the United.

4. Red Wing

With five consecutive trips to the State Tournament, the Wingers bring back Taylor Heise (79 points) and Maddy Hardyman (50 points). If Red Wing can find a replacement for goaltender Ashley Corcoran to pair with a strong core of defenders, they will be incredibly balanced on both offense and defense.  

5. Warroad

Returning three of its four top scorers makes Warroad a force from the North, especially for a team that came up just two goals short against eventual Class 1A state champion Thief River Falls in the Class 1A, Section 8 finals.
