Minnesota has long had a presence in the National Hockey League and the 2015-16 season is no different. In fact, as of Nov. 1, 2015, there were 31 active Minnesota-born players on NHL rosters, including four each with the San Jose Sharks, New York Islanders and Minnesota Wild. Seventeen teams have a player who was born in the State of Hockey.

This impressive number doesn’t take into account the countless others who were born elsewhere but at one point skated for Minnesota-based teams (players such as T.J. Oshie, Sidney Crosby and Thomas Vanek, for example).

Additionally, there are many players currently in the minor and junior leagues who may soon get the call as the season unfolds.
