SAINT PAUL, Minn. –  The Minnesota Wild, along with Bally Sports North and Minnesota Hockey, announced that Warroad will host Hockey Day Minnesota 2024, presented by UnitedHealthcare. The Warroad Athletic Complex on Elk Street will serve as the venue for the 18th annual statewide hockey celebration.

“We’ve been waiting a long time to be able to host Hockey Day Minnesota in Warroad, otherwise known as the real Hockeytown USA,” said Tad Palmquist, Hockey Day Minnesota 2024 Local Organizing Committee Co-Chair. “As a small community of 1,800 people located near the Canadian border, Warroad and the surrounding area has an impressive hockey legacy. We are excited to showcase how we live life on the ice during HDM 2024 to the entire State of Hockey.”

The announcement was made by Minnesota Wild and Bally Sports North Analyst, Wes Walz, and Bally Sports North Play-by-Play Announcer, Anthony LaPanta, at the Warroad Celebrity Golf Tournament today. Additional details, including the date, match-ups and the official schedule for Hockey Day Minnesota 2024 will be announced at a later date.

“We are thrilled for Warroad to host Hockey Day Minnesota 2024,” said Matt Majka, Minnesota Wild President. “Warroad is deeply embedded to Minnesota hockey history and we can’t wait to celebrate and showcase their hockey community in 2024.”

Warroad’s festivities will be part of a day-long television event broadcast on Bally Sports North, designed as a celebration of the game from peewees to pros. Proceeds of the event will benefit Warroad’s Area Hockey Association in an effort to grow the game through youth hockey.

“Hockey Day Minnesota has its origin deeply rooted in Northern Minnesota,” said Mike Dimond, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Bally Sports North. “We are honored to be able to share the history and legacy of this great game in the Northern community of Warroad.”

Hockey Day Minnesota 2023 will be hosted by White Bear Township on Saturday, Jan. 28. Polar Lakes Park will serve as the venue for the 17th annual statewide hockey celebration. Bally Sports North’s broadcast event will feature over 16 hours of original hockey programming beginning at 9 a.m. Ticket information and additional details for HDM 2023 will be announced at a later date.
