The coach says: “Being that this is a brand new co-op between Champlin Park and Coon Rapids we are beyond excited to be together. The players have done a great job with off- season training and more importantly off- season bonding. The players that have joined us from Coon Rapids who were at the high school level last year are bringing a confidence with them as they have been very successful the last two seasons at Coon Rapids/Spring Lake Park and we are looking for them to carry that over and show our young players the way.  From the Champlin Park side, we have a lot of players who had their chance to play varsity last year, but we graduated a lot of our scoring so players will need to step up and put more pucks in the net. Our strength early on should be our defense as we have three solid returners from last year and a handful of players battling for minutes. Our goaltenders are experienced as the two juniors have been with us since eighth grade and we have a sophomore newcomer who is ready to push for playing time as well.  There are a lot of unknowns for us but we are excited for the season and there will be some great competition for the varsity spots.”

Conference: Greater Minnesota
Section: 8A
Home arena: Crookston Sports Center
Head coach: Jaclyn Martin
Years at school: 3
Assistant coach: Tim Moe
Letterwinners returning/lost: 4/8
Top returning forwards: Freshman Catherine Tiedemann, sophomore Kylee Meier
Top returning defenseman: Freshman MacKenze Epema
Top returning goaltender: Senior Brelee Jobe
The coach says: “Strengths: This is Brelee’s third season as a goaltender and she's really improved since last year. She’s quicker and is reading the shots much better. We also have three new defensemen that will really help her out on the back side. Catherine Tiedemann (forward) has already shown she's gotten faster and stronger since last season as an eighth grader. She’s been starting Varsity since the seventh grade and we'll look to her to lead the forwards. Catherine will be matched up with Aleah Bienek (new eighth grader) most of the year and those two have already developed an on-ice connection that will pave the way in the offensive end. Weaknesses: Numbers. With many new and unexperienced players, our numbers will be weak. We will be running two lines with four defensemen the majority of the year. Our goal is to not let that be our weakness. With everything we're doing outside of on-ice practices (i.e.- dryland, weights, shooting pucks, etc.) our legs will be ready for each game.”

Delano/Rockford Tigers

Top returning goaltenders: Senior Karly Schmidt (1.13), sophomore Grace Glasrud (1.52)
Top newcomers: Chloe Kuechle, Mary Beth Kivisto
The coach says: “Our biggest strength is never giving up. This team is so relentless and willing to sacrifice personal accomplishment for the betterment of the team. I've never been around so many selfless athletes. They truly care about each other and want to come together to achieve the dream. Our strength is our ability to score and make things happen. Our weakness is our inexperience. There are only three girls that have more than one year of varsity experience. Overall, I know this team is going to bring something special to the table this year. They want to be the best and won't settle for anything less.”

The coach says: “The Dodge County Wildcats are coming off a 15-12-1 record, losing  in the Section Semi Game in four overtimes to No. 1 seed Lakeville South.  DC lost five good seniors (three goalies and two D’s),  four of which are playing college hockey.  DC will be led by four solid lines of forwards which all return from last year’s team and a  strong defensive corps led by seniors Katie Montrose, Rose Kraus,  along with junior Ashley Donovan and anchored in net by sophomore Annabel Smith. DC will be a very fast and deep team as they return all 12 forwards and four of six D from last year’s team. As an independent, the Wildcats will be playing a very strong strength of schedule with teams like Minnetonka, Blaine, Warroad, Breck,  Chaska/Chanhassan, St. Paul United, Eastview  and other ranked A and AA teams. The Wildcats will be playing in the Warroad  Holiday Tournament. The team should really grow from the difficult schedule and be ready come Section Playoff time.”

Our D will be solid as well with two returners and two newcomers who know the game very well. The girls between the pipes will help us out big time as well. This will be our first year without a co-op so our numbers will be down but with our experience and our attitude going into the season we will have a great year!”

Rochester Lourdes Eagles
Last year: 15-10-1 (with Rochester John Marshall)
Conference (record): Big 9 (11-3-1)
Section: 1A
Home arena: Graham Arena
Head coach: Jeff True
Years at school: First
Assistant coaches: Laura Vannelli, Chris Ratzloff, Mathew Hanzel
Top returning forwards: Sophomore Emma Schmitz, junior Clara Billings, freshman Abigail Wick, sophomore Sarah Davis, eighth-grader Delaney Flemming
Top returning defensemen: Senior Lindsey Angst, sophomore Alisson Smith, freshman Maggie Hanzel
Top returning goaltenders: Senior Clare Brunn, sophomore Corrin Hanson
The coach says: “ Rochester Lourdes is entering its first year as a girls’ high school program. We have been in a cooperative with Rochester John Marshall for the past 10 or so years. Our team is very excited to have its own program. We are led by several young, talented, and extremely motivated and competitive players who I have been receiving emails and phone calls on from a number of D1 and D3 schools. We had a group of four girls represented at the Select 15 camps in St. Cloud –  Emma Schmitz, Alisson Smith, Maggie Hanzel and Corrin Hanson. Schmitz and Hanzel participated in the national camp, and Smith was an alternate. We have also had several girls represented (including those above) at Os Prospects. Those not named above are Clara Billings, Abigail Wick, Sarah Dravis and Delaney Flemming. Our inexperience of playing varsity hockey is our glaring and obvious weakness. However, we have two seniors (Lindsey Angst & Clare Brunn) who are our captains and ready to lead with their play on the ice and their dynamic personalities off the ice. With that inexperience, will come some challenges; however, I’m optimistic this group will see a lot of success and growth throughout the season, and we expect to compete for a section championship. Our strengths as a team are our speed, quickness, physicality, goaltending and several intangibles; vision, intelligence and “hockey smarts.” Despite our youth, many of our players played on a Rochester 15U A team last year that was ranked in the top 5 all season and represented well at the state tournament. How their skills and abilities will transition to the high school level will be the question, but their desire to improve and get better will undoubtedly lead to growth. We have a very strong schedule with many teams which are top ranked in both AA and A polls form last year and who will be again this year. Some of those teams are Wayzata, White Bear Lake, Eden Prairie, St. Paul United, Eagan and others. This team has already come together for 5 different community service projects over the summer, this fall and last spring. Their desire to be involved in the community and together as a team has me not only optimistic about their abilities this season, but represents what we believe is important in our program and will set a precedent for our success not only on the ice, but most importantly off it as well. We have brought on some great assistant coaches who bring a wealth of hockey knowledge to our program, led by our primary assistant Laura Vannelli who coached recently at Breck and Academy of Holy Angels.”
