Bischoff Shines on Wild Wednesday in Da Beauty League

As the second season of Da Beauty League enters its home stretch, teams TRIA and Bic are deadlocked at 3-1 atop the league standings.

Velocity handed TRIA its first loss of the regular season on Wednesday, with Drew Stafford and Travis Boyd each tallying two goals in the 5-2 victory. Rounding out the scoring for Velocity was Buffalo Sabres forward Kyle Okposo.

Okposo’s former New York Islander teammates Brock Nelson and Steven Fogarty each scored once for TRIA.

Team Bic thumped Walser 11-6 in the first game of the night, scoring five goals in the first half and six in the second to earn the win. Former Grand Rapids defenseman Jake Bischoff was a revelation for Bic, scoring four goals and adding three assists for an impressive seven points. 

San Jose Sharks defenseman Justin Braun chipped in two goals and three helpers, and Arizona Coyotes center Derek Stepan reached the five-point threshold with a goal and four assists.

Leading Walser in the loss was North Dakota standout and Washington Capitols draft pick Shane Gerisch with two goals and two assists. Gerisch is currently tied for second in DBL scoring with 10 points, one behind Bischoff.

Former Minnesota Wild player and current Las Vegas Golden Knight Erik Haula scored two goals and added three assists to lead Team RBC to a thrilling 9-6 win over Team Tradition, with Haula’s performance aided by a three-goal evening from Florida Panthers’ center Nick Bjugstad.

New York Islanders forward Anders Lee recorded two goals and three points in the loss for Tradition.

The teams will meet again on Monday, Aug. 7, with the regular season concluding on Aug. 16.
