When the 2017 Girls' U18 Select Player Development Camp kicks off in Biddeford, Maine on June 24, many of the 66 players will have little problem finding a familiar face somewhere on the ice.

The reason? Nearly half of them - 31 to be exact (including four of the six goaltenders) - hail from the State of Hockey.

USA Hockey uses the seven-day camp to assemble its roster for the World U18 Championships, to be held in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia, in January 2018. Team USA has won the last three gold medals at the tournament, following a run of three silvers (each final game was against arch rival Canada).

Four of the Minnesota natives - Elizabeth Norton (Long Lake), Gracie Ostertag (Shakopee), Madeline Wethington (Edina) and Taylor Heise (Lake City) - won gold medals at the U18 World Championships last year.
