Gopher Women Drop Frozen Four Semifinal to Clarkson

MEN’S DIVISION I

Minnesota-Duluth (25-6-7)

The Bulldogs swept Northern Michigan 5-2 and North Dakota 4-3 in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference Frozen Faceoff, earning the Bulldogs the No. 2 overall seed at the NCAA tournament. 

The Bulldogs will face Ohio State for the first time this season in the first round on Friday, March 24 at 6:30 p.m. (ET) at Scheels Arena in Fargo, N.D.

Minnesota (23-11-3)

A trip to Manchester, N.H. is the fate for the Golden Gophers, as the regular-season champions of the Big Ten Conference have earned the No. 4 overall seed in the NCAA tournament, and will face Notre Dame in round one.

This year, the Golden Gophers set the NCAA tournament all-time record for appearances with 37. Minnesota fell in the first round of the Big Ten playoffs, losing to Penn State 4-3 in double-overtime.

The battle against the Fighting Irish will be played on Saturday, Mar. 25 at 3:30 p.m. (ET).

WOMEN’S DIVISION I 

Minnesota (26-8-5)

The Golden Gophers lost 4-3 to Clarkson on Friday, in the NCAA tournament semifinals.

Kate Schipper, Sarah Potomak and Sophie Skarzynski each scored once for the Golden Gophers in the loss, with each goal answering a previous score by the Golden Knights.

Genevieve Bannan, Loren Gable and Savannah Harmon each scored once for the Golden Knights (31-4-5) and Rhyen McGill netted the game-winning goal with just 1:31 to play in regulation.
