COLLEGE HOCKEY ROUNDUP: Gopher Women Sweep Bemidji State

Augsburg Men's, Women's Teams Both in Top Ten

D1 Women

Minnesota (13-1-2)

The Golden Gophers, ranked No. 2 in the latest USCHO poll, remained perfect at home over the weekend with a pair of wins over Bemidji State.

Up next for the Golden Gophers is an away series against No. 1 rated Wisconsin.

Minnesota-Duluth (10-3-3)

The Bulldogs have lost just once in their last 10 games, including a sweep of Harvard over the weekend in Duluth. The No. 4 Bulldogs travel to St. Cloud to take on the Huskies next weekend.

Bemidji State (5-10-1)

Losers of three straight, the Beavers were swept by No. 2 Minnesota by scores of 4-0 and 4-1. The Beavers will look to get back on track against Minnesota State next weekend.

St. Cloud State (5-10-1)

Another team on a losing skid, the Huskies were swept on their trip to Burlington, Vermont for the Windjammer Classic. The Huskies were defeated by the University of Vermont and Robert Morris University.

Minnesota State (3-11-2)

The Mavericks avenged a 5-1 loss to Lindenwood (Mo.) with a 1-1 tie in last weekend’s series. Lindsey Coleman and Anna Keys were the goal-scorers for the Mavericks over the two games.

D1 Men

Minnesota-Duluth (10-2-2)

Minnesota-Duluth retained its spot at No. 1 in the United States College Hockey Online poll, but did not play over the weekend.

The Bulldogs will be back in action with a series at No. 2-ranked Denver on Dec. 9 and Dec. 10.

Minnesota (6-4-2)

The Golden Gophers headed east for a pair of games over the holiday weekend, and returned with a loss to Northeastern and a win over No. 3 Boston College. Justin Kloos was a bright spot in the loss to Northeastern, scoring a hat-trick.

Bemidji State (11-4-1)

The Beavers retained a top-15 ranking, coming in at No. 13 after being swept by Princeton over the weekend.

Next weekend, the Beavers will travel to Michigan Tech to resume Western Collegiate Hockey Association action.

Minnesota State (8-5-1)

Coming in at No. 15, the Mavericks will resume play by hosting Alaska-Fairbanks this coming weekend.

St. Cloud State (6-6-0)

The Huskies have not played since being swept by North Dakota, and will face Western Michigan in Kalamazoo in a series on Dec. 2 and Dec. 3.

D3 Women

Augsburg (6-2-0)

The Auggies did not play over Thanksgiving weekend, but are still the highest-rated of the Division III Minnesota teams, coming in at No. 10 in the USCHO poll.

The next games for the Auggies will be against St. Olaf on Dec. 2 and Dec. 3.

Concordia (5-2-1)

The Cobbers split over the weekend, thumping Marian (Wis.) 5-2 and then falling 1-0 in game two. Forward Jess Nelson is currently second in the MIAC in total points with 10.

Hamline (5-2-0)

The Pipers have won four of their last five games, but did not play over the weekend. The Pipers will look to continue their hot streak against Saint Thomas on Dec. 2.

Gustavus (3-3-1)

The Gusties picked up a 1-0 win over Wisconsin-Superior to enter their week off on a high note. Next up for Gustavus will be Wisconsin-Eau Claire on Nov. 29.

Bethel (3-2-2)

The Royals are still undefeated in MIAC play, posting a 2-0-2 mark in conference games. 

D3 Men

Augsburg (7-0-1)

The Auggies retain their gaudy No. 6 ranking in the United States College Hockey online poll, despite not playing over the weekend. The Auggies are back in action against St. Olaf on Dec. 2.

Hamline (6-1-2)

With a 4-3 win in overtime over Wisconsin-Superior, Hamline has picked up wins in three in its last four games. Brandon Reinholz scored the game-winner in the extra session for the Pipers.

Saint Mary’s (5-2-2)

The Cardinals had their five-game winning streak snapped in a 5-2 loss to the Milwaukee School of Engineering. The Cardinals, a perfect 4-0-0 in the Minnesota Interscholastic Athletic Conference, will host Concordia (Minn.) this weekend. The Cardinals have been a perfect 3-0-1 at home this season.

Saint Thomas (4-2-3)

Thanks to a pair of ties, the Tommies are unbeaten in their last five games. One of those ties came over the weekend, as the Tommies knotted with Adrian at 3-3.

Saint John’s (5-4-1)

The Johnnies thumped Lawrence 6-1 to end a two-game skid on Nov. 27, led by Sam Valerius’ two goals and assist. The Johnnies will next face Gustavus on Dec. 1.
