The No. 2-rated Golden Gophers avenged a series-closing loss to Bemidji State with a pair of one-goal wins over Minnesota-Duluth last weekend. Minnesota downed the Bulldogs 4-3 in game one, and earned the 3-2 win in overtime in the second game.

Sarah Potomak and Kelly Pannek are tied for the team lead in scoring with eight points each.

Minnesota-Duluth (3-2-1)

The Bulldogs gave Minnesota all it could handle over the weekend, but eventually bowed to the Golden Gophers in respective 4-3 and 3-2 losses, the second loss coming in overtime. Lara Stalder scored both goals for the No. 4 Bulldogs in the second loss.

Bemidji State (4-2-0)

The Beavers fell to Ohio State 3-1 in the weekend’s season-opener, but earned the split with a 4-1 victory over the Buckeyes in game two. Emily Bergland led the scoring charge in the second game with two goals and an assist for the Beavers, ranked No. 10 nationally.

St. Cloud State (2-4-0)

The Huskies did not play last weekend, and will resume their season with two Western Collegiate Hockey Association games against Minnesota State-Mankato.

Minnesota State (2-4-0)

Minnesota State may have been swept by North Dakota over the weekend, but the Mavericks managed to push the Fighting Hawks to the brink in game two before faltering 4-3 in overtime.

Minnesota-Duluth (3-1-2)

The first loss of the season for the No. 2 ranked Bulldogs came in the series finale against Notre Dame, with the Irish slipping past Minnesota-Duluth 3-1. The loss gave both teams a split in the series. Adam Johnson highlighted the Bulldogs’ scoring attack with three goals over the weekend.

Minnesota (2-0-0)

The Golden Gophers faced the National Team Development Program’s Under-18 team in an exhibition game on Oct. 14 and came away with a 9-0 victory. Rem Pitlick scored a hat-trick in the win for the Golden Gophers, who are ranked No. 7 in the latest United States College Hockey Online poll.

The regular season continues for Minnesota with an upcoming series against St. Cloud State on Oct. 21 and Oct. 22.

Minnesota State (4-0-0)

The No. 9 Mavericks continued their winning ways over the weekend with a sweep of St. Cloud State following a season-opening sweep of Michigan Tech.

Over the two games against the Huskies, the Mavericks scored a total of 10 goals, with Clint Lewis chipping in two goals and two assists in the victories.

St. Cloud State (0-2-0)

After being swept at the hands of Minnesota State, the No. 14 Huskies will turn their attention to Minnesota next weekend.

The Huskies fell to the Mavericks 4-1 and 6-4, respectively, with five players notching one goal over the weekend for St. Cloud State.

Bemidji State (4-0-0)

A pair of 2-0 shutouts gave the Beavers their third and fourth wins of the season respectively, and kept Bemidji State, ranked No. 18, in the echelon of teams that have not yet suffered a defeat.

Jay Dickman scored one goal in each game, and Michael Bitzer earned both shutouts with 42 combined saves.
